Senior Consultant - Technical Project Manager
About the role
As a senior consultant – technical project manager, you will collaborate with team members to lead complex, large-scale technical projects in support of NYSTEC’s client’s cyber risk remediation program. Serving as a technical project manager, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will involve coordination and collaboration with all involved project stakeholders, project monitoring, and regular reporting. This position requires onsite work in Albany, NY.
Responsibilities
- Communicate project vision, priorities, technical concepts, risks, and changes clearly to project teams, sponsors, executives, and other stakeholders through presentations, reports, meetings, and collaboration tools
- Lead projects and multiple project teams by clarifying roles, delegating and prioritizing work, coaching team members, resolving conflict, evaluating performance, and promoting a collaborative work environment
- Define and manage project scope, requirements, deliverables, schedules, and deadlines throughout the project lifecycle with the use of Microsoft Project
- Develop and maintain project management artifacts for complex cybersecurity projects in accordance with ITS standards, including risk, change, procurement, and deliverable documentation
- Identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation plans, and apply structured change-management processes to obtain approval for project changes
- Negotiate and collaborate with NYS agencies, managers, project managers, sponsors, and stakeholders to support the Cyber Risk Remediation Program and New York Security Operations Center (NYSOC) related deliverables
- Apply structured problem-solving and adaptability by gathering and analyzing information, presenting solutions, responding to changing priorities, and effectively facilitating team meetings
Requirements
- Advanced experience leading and overseeing complex, large-scale technology projects, including the analysis, design, development, procurement, and integration of IT solutions
- Demonstrated expertise managing IT projects that require coordination among technology providers, vendors, program groups, and agency stakeholders
- Prominent ability to lead teams, influence change, manage stakeholder relationships, and respond effectively to evolving project needs
- Professional written, verbal, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to ensure project tasks and deliverables are completed in accordance with approved proposal
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, math, or a similar discipline, and a minimum of five years of related experience
- An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered
Skills
- Experience working with New York State agencies
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Eight or more years of experience managing Information Technology related projects

Pay
The target base salary for this position is $84,497.00 to $109,846.00 per year. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.

This position requires onsite work in Albany, NY.
