Responsibilities

  • Efficiently lead your team, including projects that involve other disciplines.
  • Work alongside the Business Development team by providing technical insight and/or participating in meetings as a practice area expert.
  • Provide input to Principal Consultants and Practice Leaders in the preparation of proposals.
  • Work with licensed professionals in the design, assessment, and/or construction of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.
  • Provide technical expertise within the field of engineering for projects involving assessments, upgrades, maintenance, and restoration of the built environment, as well as components of design related to new construction.
  • Coordinate adaptive reuse projects of older buildings and enhancements to existing facilities to accommodate changes in use and implementation of equipment and machinery.
  • Perform assignments within the field of mechanical engineering based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the direct supervisor and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work.
  • Manage multiple projects. Coordinate with consultants from other practice areas to produce client reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform calculations consistent with technical practice area. Perform field assessments including working from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, confined spaces, rooftops, and mechanical, electrical, and fire protection equipment rooms.
  • As Lead on a project, be responsible for the project being completed on time and within the allotted budget.
  • Responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with existing clients.
  • Stay in weekly contact with the client and address concerns that may arise during or after projects.
  • May participate in preparing and making presentations in support of the Business Development team.

Requirements

  • Expert in the concepts within their Practice Area and experience working in teams with staff from other areas.
  • Possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other Building Information Modeling software.
  • Proficiency in Hourly Analysis Program or other computer-aided system sizing/modeling program.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is a must.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and technical writing abilities.
  • Outgoing and able to interact with staff, clients, and building owners.
  • Able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Respect for clients and co-workers.
  • High level of analytical skills. Work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications and computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical reports or journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to write scopes-of-work, budget estimates, schedules, reports of findings, proposals, general correspondence, and other technical documents.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from internal and external clients. Capable of effectively presenting information.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • PE licensure encouraged.
  • 8+ years of mechanical design experience.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $156,000 and is dependent on education, experience, location, and certifications/licensure.

Schedule

Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.

Physical Demands

Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (e.g., client's office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings, and written reports. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.
