Senior Consultant, Boiler Inspector
About the role
Liberty Mutual’s Equipment Breakdown Risk Control group is hiring an Equipment Breakdown Risk Control Consultant to provide jurisdictionally required inspections and other services to an assigned group of commercial lines customers. This role is 100% remote within the designated territory and includes eligibility for a company car.
The position involves conducting boiler and pressure vessel inspections, non-destructive testing, combustion efficiency evaluations, water treatment assessments, and compliance verification with applicable codes and regulations. You will prepare inspection reports, recommend repairs, and coordinate with owners, contractors, and regulatory authorities. The role requires exposure to industrial environments, use of personal protective equipment, and occasional after-hours or emergency inspections.
This is a hybrid work arrangement combining remote responsibilities with field-based activities. Residency within or near the assigned territory (preferred locations: Western Massachusetts or the Capital Region of New York, including Albany and Troy) is strongly preferred to support business operations and regional travel.
Candidates may be hired at various levels based on qualifications and possession of an NBIC Commission. Those without an IS Commission will enter at a trainee level.

- Prepare clear, accurate inspection reports, deficiency notices, and certificates of inspection.
- Recommend and document required repairs or modifications and inspect completed repairs for compliance.
- Coordinate inspections with owners, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Stay current on code updates, inspection techniques, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with coursework in mathematics and engineering or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of directly related consulting experience.
- NBBI IS Commission or ability to obtain it.
