About the role
The Senior Construction Project Manager is part of the Global Design and Construction team (over 200 people) who deliver over 70 projects globally per year (in excess of $2B capex). This role directs day-to-day activities and operations of a team of Construction/Operation Project Managers, mentors junior team members, and makes strong tactical decisions to resolve project issues. The position manages construction project costs, methods, and project team selection to meet project schedules and goals while working in a multi-faceted environment.
Responsible for all aspects of data center construction for respective projects from inception through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover of an operating facility. Projects may include ground-up construction, fit-outs, remodels, etc. The Project Manager may oversee one or more smaller projects or a single, extensive project and will direct all partners, both internal (Design, Procurement, Operations, Security, and IT/Network) and external (contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Manages multiple smaller data center projects or a single larger data center construction project.
- Leads by example on safety, standards, and culture.
- Manages and monitors project progress, quality, and compliance with building regulations.
- Ensures projects meet or exceed company expectations.
- Oversees and manages project risk registers.
- Leads internal stakeholders in the development of new data center projects from concept to business approval.
- Directs external vendors per project, including general contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, and equipment suppliers.
- Contributes to establishing and maintaining high-value relationships.
- Supports the identification and development of training programs and cross-functional training.
- Manages contract administration procedures, including generation, review, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents.
- Liaises with local authorities and relevant state agencies and departments.
- Directs internal and external project team members, including internal Design, Procurement, Operations, Commercial, and IT/Network support teams.
- Mentors junior team members as needed.
- Manages the development and maintenance of best-in-class policies and procedures.
- Manages project closure, handover, and lessons-learned processes to ensure they are established and implemented.
- Drives a safe, quality-first culture, ensuring all applicable codes, standards, and good construction practices are followed.
- Ensures internal controls are adhered to at each step of the process through effective contract administration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, construction project management, or related field with equivalent experience.
- Typically 10+ years of experience in construction project management, including critical infrastructure for data centers, pharmaceutical, biotech, or similar environments.
- Demonstrated understanding of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) technology associated with mission-critical environments.
- This position is based in Dallas, TX, and requires being in the office and/or on job sites a minimum of 3 days each week.
- Customer-focused, self-motivated, and flexible.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant statutory regulations and industry best practices.
- Experienced in construction procurement methodologies.
- Preferred: Proficiency with Microsoft Project, experience developing new data center projects, and experience leading an internal cross-functional team.
Pay
The targeted pay range for this position in Dallas, TX is $136,000 - $204,000 USD per year. Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for full-time positions, determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. The range shown reflects base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
