Responsibilities
- Lead design and construction management for K-12 projects, ensuring adherence to contracts, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Serve as primary liaison for owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and partner entities.
- Develop and manage project procedures, documentation, contracts, and A/E coordination systems.
- Manage project data, communications, approvals, and stakeholder engagement, including public forums and meetings.
- Direct and monitor construction management staff and related project team members.
- Oversee project controls, cost management, scheduling, and performance tracking.
- Lead project meetings and ensure accurate documentation and issue resolution.
- Manage project logistics, staffing, and resource planning.
- Ensure effective project closeout and delivery to owner.
- Support Vanir quality standards; perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field, plus 7+ years managing construction/engineering/architectural projects (minimum 3 years owner-rep/CM support).
- OR Non-Technical and Non-degree candidates with 9+ years construction management experience on large projects and 5+ years in owner-rep/CM support, with commitment to pursue degree advancement.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications.
- Experience managing design phases (user groups, constructability reviews, spec development).
- Experience with local permitting authorities.
- Applied experience leading or participating in various procurement processes, accounting, cost, administrative, and personnel interaction in professional settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products and project-related systems such as Bluebeam, Prolog, Primavera.
- Ability to mentor junior staff and work collaboratively in team environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines, solve issues proactively, and track items to resolution.
- Effective negotiation skills (especially change orders).
Qualifications
- Experience with design-build delivery.
- Experience with project controls tools (Prolog, Primavera) and advanced application of estimating, cost control, scheduling, and construction principles.
- Experience managing design and construction of K-12 school projects.
- Architect, Engineer, or General Contractor license.
- CMM, DBIA certification or willingness to obtain.
