About the role
The Senior Construction Manager will lead large-scale construction initiatives that support the expansion of a rapidly growing operational network. This role oversees projects from early planning and design coordination through construction, commissioning, and operational handoff, combining technical expertise, commercial leadership, and stakeholder management to deliver complex facilities safely, efficiently, and on schedule. The ideal candidate will drive value optimization, manage external partners, and ensure high-quality execution across multiple markets in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end delivery of multiple capital construction projects, ensuring alignment between business objectives, technical requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Lead multiple concurrent construction projects across different markets, including facility expansions, retrofits, and new developments from concept through completion.
- Manage full project lifecycles including site assessments, permitting, design coordination, procurement, construction execution, commissioning, and operational turnover.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, risk registers, execution plans, and executive reporting.
- Oversee contractor selection, bid processes, negotiations, contract management, and vendor performance.
- Review and optimize construction scopes, proposals, pricing, change orders, and project assumptions to maximize value and control costs.
- Drive value engineering initiatives and identify opportunities to improve efficiency without compromising quality or operational needs.
- Provide technical oversight across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and specialty systems.
- Coordinate with municipalities, regulatory agencies, utility providers, and other authorities to ensure successful permitting and compliance.
- Manage financial performance by tracking project costs, forecasts, commitments, cash flow, and capital expenditures.
- Build strong partnerships with operations, supply chain, finance, facilities, real estate, and executive stakeholders to ensure project alignment and successful delivery.
- Establish scalable construction processes, workflows, and best practices to support continued growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience managing large-scale commercial, industrial, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, food production, or mission-critical construction projects.
- 5-7 years of experience in commercial real estate and food-related construction environments.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent projects with significant budgets and complex stakeholder requirements.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, project controls, procurement processes, contract negotiations, and change order management.
- Advanced understanding of building systems including structural, civil, architectural, MEP, refrigeration, utilities, and specialty infrastructure.
- Experience with permitting processes, code compliance, inspections, and occupancy approvals.
- Proficiency with construction and project management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam Revu, MS Project, CAD, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Ability to review and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, estimates, and technical documentation.
- Strong negotiation, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with design-build, CM-at-risk, or integrated project delivery models.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced environments with changing priorities and complex challenges.
- Preferred certifications include PE, RA, PMP, CCM, LEED, GC, or equivalent professional credentials.
- Preferred experience with food manufacturing, cold chain, commercial kitchens, industrial processing, logistics, fulfillment, or distribution facilities.
