Senior Construction Management Specialist 1

This position is a field assignment requiring travel. The location varies by job and client. Per diem is offered for those who qualify.

About the role

The Construction Management Specialist will work closely with all project team members and supervise contractor and sub-contractor trade employees. This is a traveling position supporting project work across multiple sites, with typical assignments lasting 3–9 months and occasional short-term travel to other locations.

Responsibilities

• Develop project-specific construction management and/or commissioning management work plans
• Perform pre-construction planning work before field mobilization
• Lead and manage site construction management and commissioning staff
• Monitor overall construction and commissioning progress, cost, quality, scope, and safety
• Manage and mitigate construction and commissioning work risk
• Report construction progress and cost to the Project Manager or Owner
• Lead and attend construction project performance review meetings
• Plan construction process by developing schedules, phasing, and lookaheads
• Track project progress and maintain schedules
• Ensure the job site remains safe, clean, and orderly
• Communicate field conflicts and notify the internal project team
• Maintain up-to-date documentation for internal and external project members
• Collaborate with the internal construction team, engineers, subcontractors, etc. to determine project needs
• Monitor and report on project progress
• Adhere to estimated costs and ensure the project is on budget and profitable
• Supervise field staff and provide constructive feedback
• Coordinate requests for appropriate staffing
• Resolve on-site issues and emergencies
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and quality standards

Requirements

• 7–12 years of relevant construction management experience in T&D transmission, substation construction, or industrial construction management
• Experience determining staff positions and size, interviewing, and selecting personnel
• Construction labor knowledge and labor planning experience
• Experience establishing and using project controls tools to manage large construction projects
• Understanding of a process approach to construction management and start-up testing work
• Demonstrated client relationship-building experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others in potentially adversarial situations
• Proven experience as an Industrial Construction Site Manager
• Industrial field experience, trade school graduate, or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management/Engineering preferred
• Knowledge of quality, safety, and health guidelines for industrial construction job sites
• In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
• Understanding of proper phase codes and time assignment
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to lead and inspire
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification

Pay

Compensation range: $84,762 – $129,498. Eligible positions include a base salary or hourly rate, comprehensive benefits, and potential participation in a yearly discretionary bonus.
