About the role

We're looking for a Senior Construction Inspector who will play a crucial role in ensuring that civil infrastructure projects are built to the highest standards. You'll be responsible for conducting and documenting observations, monitoring progress, performing measurements and calculations, and writing detailed reports.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines.
  • Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects.
  • Perform measurements and calculations necessary to determine quantity of work performed and materials required.
  • Check layout and dimensions of work by utilizing basic tape measures, rules and other instruments.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
  • Compose reports with a daily log of construction activities, personnel assigned, equipment used, weather conditions, and other information pertinent to the progress of the work.
  • Enter and record information regarding construction projects into computer programs.
  • Mentor junior field staff and provide supervision as needed.
  • Collaborate with other field representatives or project managers.
  • Serve as the most senior inspector on projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Experience working on state or municipal transportation construction projects.
  • Experience preparing construction project documentation and maintaining project records.
  • The ability to exercise deductive reasoning and independently resolve problems.
  • Experience using survey equipment to check and confirm construction layout.
  • Department of transportation technician testing certifications or, certifications through other technical organizations such as: the American Concrete Institute (ACI) or the American Traffic Safety Services Administration (ATSSA).
  • OSHA 10 Hr. Certification Required.

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
  • (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma).
  • A minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

Salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This position is full-time and requires a flexible schedule to accommodate the demands of the role.
