About the role
This Engineer 3 serves as a technical leader within the Concrete service line, mentoring junior staff, overseeing QA/QC, and driving process improvements. The role involves managing multiple projects, collaborating with clients and contractors, and enhancing the service line’s technical reputation.
Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and execute concrete engineering projects within scope, budget, and quality standards.
- Develop testing protocols and technical recommendations for complex concrete risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Perform in-depth analyses of concrete properties such as creep, fatigue, thermal behavior, and alkali-silica reactivity (ASR).
- Design and evaluate high-performance concrete mixes for specialized applications.
- Lead forensic investigations of concrete failures, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Review and approve technical reports, design documents, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Act as primary technical contact for clients, providing expert advice and delivering presentations.
- Support business development through proposal contributions and identifying growth opportunities.
- Mentor and review work of junior staff, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
- Lead internal training sessions on advanced concrete topics and innovative practices.
- Implement process improvements and incorporate emerging technologies into workflows.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in concrete engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.
- Proficiency with concrete design software and modeling tools.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience managing large-scale projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of advanced materials and techniques, including emerging innovations.
