About the role
The Skok Lab at NYU Grossman School of Medicine seeks a senior computational scientist to lead single-molecule and 3D epigenomics analyses using Oxford Nanopore and PacBio long-read data (nano-NOMe-seq).
Responsibilities
- Develop pipelines and machine-learning models for analyzing long-read and single-molecule data.
- Integrate nano-NOMe-seq data with Hi-C/Hi-CHIP and transcriptional datasets to explore chromatin topology, nucleosome organization, and gene regulation.
- Lead research projects that advance understanding of epigenetic mechanisms and their impact on gene regulation.
- Collaborate with experimental biologists to design and implement experiments that complement computational analyses.
- Write and publish high-quality papers in leading scientific journals.
- Contribute to the development of new methodologies in computational epigenomics and machine learning.
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with long-read or single-molecule sequencing data analysis.
- Strong coding skills in Python and R.
- A record of innovative contributions to computational epigenomics and machine learning.
- Experience working with Hi-C/Hi-CHIP and transcriptional datasets.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications
- Expertise in bioinformatics and computational biology.
- Knowledge of chromatin structure and gene regulation.
- Experience with machine learning algorithms and statistical methods.
- Strong publication record in relevant scientific literature.
Skills
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R.
- Experience with bioinformatics software tools.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
