Senior Composite-Metallic Structural Engineer
Location: Remote (US) initially, with future onsite options (North Carolina preferred, LA secondary & Wichita)
- Salary: $140,000 - $180,000/annum + Equity + Unlimited PTO + Exceptional benefits
About the role
The structures team is small and growing, and they want hands-on senior technical leaders, not managerial profiles. You will own structural sizing, analysis, and verification for a 50/50 composite and metallic airframe, shaping methodology and substantiation approach as the program scales toward a Part 25 pathway.
Responsibilities
- Owning airframe structural sizing and static analysis across composite and metallic primary structure.
- Running trade studies and making clear, defensible recommendations across weight, strength, stiffness, and manufacturability.
- Building and interrogating FE models from aircraft-level down to detailed components, backed by strong hand-calcs (including laminate theory).
- Supporting a building-block verification approach, including composite component testing and material qualification activities.
- Creating and improving internal analysis processes, tools, and reporting in a fast-moving startup environment.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on structures analysis background across composites and metals.
- Experience with load paths, joints (bolted and bonded), and failure mode identification.
- Exposure to composite test correlation, material qualification, or building-block test approaches.
- FEA capability with tools such as Nastran, FEMAP, HyperWorks, OptiStruct, and Simcenter 3D (any mix is fine).
- Startup mindset, meaning comfort owning methods and moving from ambiguity to structure quickly.
