Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Composer to join our Music Team. This role is open to remote work arrangements and is a full-time staff position.

About the Role

We're looking for someone passionate about creating emotionally compelling music that enhances gameplay, storytelling, and player experience across Blizzard's worlds. Blizzard Music is part of the Story and Franchise Development (SFD) department, collaborating with all Blizzard teams to create musical content for in-game experiences, trailers, cinematics, and more.

The ideal candidate has a strong sense of musical theme and color as it relates to both gameplay and storytelling. Our team is small, collaborative, and highly creative, with every member contributing across a broad range of projects. Communication, curiosity, and mutual respect are essential to our success.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Music Director, fellow Composers, Music Production, and Assistants, as well as developers and other creative partners to create musical content for Blizzard games.
  • Take music from concept to implementation while maintaining consistent aesthetic(s) across all in-game music.
  • Partner closely with production throughout development to plan work, align priorities, and ensure successful delivery from concept through implementation.
  • Contribute creativity to add new quality music to all Blizzard IP, building on Blizzard's musical legacy.
  • Organize and direct recording sessions, working directly with musicians.
  • Balance multiple projects in a fast-paced development environment with shifting priorities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional composition experience for games, film, television, or interactive media.
  • Experience creating consistently memorable, emotional, and appropriate music for in-game entertainment and linear media.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with production partners to plan work, manage priorities, communicate risks, and deliver high-quality musical content on schedule.

Skills

  • Expert proficiency in one or more professional DAWs (Cubase, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Digital Performer, etc.) and modern virtual instrument libraries.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team.
  • Extraordinary organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Superior ear for music and its related details, with the ability to create beautiful music that supports gameplay.
  • Positive attitude and ability to receive and provide objective feedback.
  • Passion for games and interactive storytelling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Blizzard IP, games, their worlds, and musical history.
  • Strong foundation in traditional music arts, including notation, orchestration, and playing musical instruments (related software: Sibelius/Finale).
  • Previous games and/or film/TV industry scoring experience.
  • Experience working in level editors or building game mods.
  • Passion for creating memorable, melodic music.

Pay

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $82,240.00 - $152,160.00 Annual. The specific range and offer will be based on relevant experience, performance, and work location. Employees in this role may also be eligible for incentive compensation, which is not guaranteed.
