Senior Communications Team Lead
Leidos currently has a contingent opening for a Senior Communications Team Lead in Reston, VA, supporting the Defense Health Agency and Military Health System mission. This role advances high-quality, data-driven communications solutions that drive measurable results across the defense health enterprise, including strategic messaging, counsel, and products that convey organizational priorities to stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the public.
About the role
The Senior Communications Team Lead supports the Director’s Communications and Public Affairs Division (DCPAD) and the Military Health System Communications and Public Affairs Division (CPAD). Responsibilities include transparently telling the DHA story, strengthening the DHA brand, and ensuring communications are synchronized, strategic, and aligned with mission priorities. The role also provides direct communications support for senior Health Affairs leadership and coordinates with key partners such as the Defense Health Agency, Uniformed Services University, military medical departments, and other DoD public affairs offices.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all work, special projects, and programs for the respective division in coordination with the COR and government communications teams.
- Develop strategic messaging and communications products that clearly convey organizational priorities, objectives, and values.
- Provide exceptional counsel to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Oversee analytics and measurement of communications impact.
- Write and coordinate Public Affairs Guidance.
- Lead teams and manage multiple strategic communications plans simultaneously, both in execution and planning phases.
- Write for senior leaders in the MHS, DoD, or healthcare industry, including speeches, op-eds, news articles, and executive messages.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience creating dynamic communications plans and leading diverse teams.
- Extensive strategic communications planning experience with measurable results.
- Experience in integrated strategic communications, social media, media relations, internal communications, and strategic outreach.
- Ability to oversee analytics and measure communications impact.
- Proven oral and written communications experience.
- Ability to lead teams and manage multiple strategic communications plans simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military or civilian service.
Pay
Pay Range: $82,550.00 - $149,225.00. The Leidos pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Additional factors considered include job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable bargaining agreements.
