Senior Cloud Security Engineer
About the role
Scopely Explore (formerly Niantic) seeks a Cloud Security Engineer to improve the security stance of our infrastructure and production environments. We lead the development and operation of multiple successful mobile games and are looking for creative engineers with excellent technical judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and an eagerness to embrace new technologies to make our internal and user-facing services safer and more robust.
Responsibilities
- Guide teams in making the right security decisions when building out new infrastructure.
- Build automation to keep our environment safe for engineers to use.
- Maintain an advanced understanding of foundational cloud technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and IAM.
- Participate in managing the Cloud Security posture across the organization and multi-cloud environments.
- Own and improve existing infrastructure and tooling for security.
- Leverage new technologies to elevate Scopely Explore security.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on the rollout of security measures.
- Help shape the security strategy of the company through innovation.
Requirements
- Demonstrable programming skills in one main language (e.g., Go, Java, or Python).
- 3+ years of experience in a global company with cloud-centric infrastructure.
- In-depth understanding of Cloud technologies.
- Experience building tooling, helping engineers, and improving security.
- Proven strong communication and team skills in a distributed environment.
- Experience driving organization-wide changes in fast-moving environments.
Important notes: While flexible, 3 days of weekly in-office presence is expected. Coding skills are mandatory and will be tested during recruitment; they must be sufficient to automate tasks when needed. AI usage is allowed if its output is understood.
Pay
For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY, and WA, the annual salary range is $169,600—$253,000 USD. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
