Senior Cloud Network Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage cloud, multi-cloud, and hybrid network architectures.
• Configure and troubleshoot cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
• Automate infrastructure using IaC tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible) and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
• Apply network security best practices, Zero Trust principles, and cloud-native security services.
• Monitor and troubleshoot networks using cloud-native and third-party tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, Splunk).
• Collaborate across teams to solve complex networking challenges and support migration projects from on-premises to cloud.
• Engineer solutions for future needs, not just immediate requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of engineering experience (relevant experience may substitute for education).
• Expert-level knowledge in at least one technical area (frontend, backend, or infrastructure engineering).
• Proficiency in at least one major cloud service provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing (BGP), switching, and subnetting.
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, SD-WAN, and hybrid cloud networking.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and scripting.
• At least one professional certification in cloud or networking (e.g., AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE).

• Cloud platforms: AWS (VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway), Azure (Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, Network Security Groups), Google Cloud (VPC, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud VPN).
• Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, subnetting, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, SD-WAN, hybrid cloud routing.
• Automation: Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Bash.
• Security: Network security best practices, Zero Trust, cloud-native security services (AWS Security Groups, Azure Firewall).
• Monitoring: AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, Splunk, SolarWinds.
• Container networking (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Multi-cloud networking strategies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Route 53 and DNS management.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in networking, with at least 1–2 years in cloud-based networking.
• Proven track record designing and managing cloud/hybrid network architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Policy Enforcement Points, PrivateLink, and migration projects.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
• Project management experience and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Adaptability to evolving cloud technologies.
• Current or previous Federal Government clearance (preferred).

Pay

The starting range for this role is $150,000–$190,000. Actual compensation is influenced by skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
