About the Role
The Senior Clinical Supervisor, LCSW is a member of the program's leadership team and is primarily responsible for the clinical supervision and professional development of licensed staff providing treatment in the clinic. They ensure clients receive timely access to quality clinical services, including during crises; oversee functions to support the program’s clinical operations; and ensure program compliance with Federal, State, and City regulatory bodies, CARF, and funding entities.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Services:
- Develop and provide evidence-based or innovative clinical services or models of care to meet the needs of individuals, families, and communities.
- Identify gaps in clinical services and develop solutions to address them.
- Lead the implementation of evidence-based treatment or oversee innovative models of care in partnership with The Jewish Board’s training department or external agencies.
- Ensure assigned staff maintain an active caseload as defined by clinic leadership.
- Work with clinicians to maximize direct care time and teach skills such as timely note completion, time management, and organizational skills.
- Develop clinicians' competency in individual, group, and family therapy.
- Teach person-centered treatment planning and ensure it is interdisciplinary and client-driven.
- Maintain written supervisory notes reflecting clinicians' strengths and areas for improvement.
- Provide direct services to clients, including intakes and crisis interventions, as needed.
- Develop strategies to ensure timely client access to care and increased engagement.
- Oversee crisis intervention services and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in quality assurance activities such as chart reviews and utilization management.
- Integrate recovery, rehabilitation, treatment, and vocational components of the program.
- Monitor and follow up on program incidents.
- Oversee clinicians with a combined caseload of up to 600 clients (if all staff are LCSW) or 450 clients (if supervising a mix of LCSW and LMSW).
- Personnel:
- Participate in hiring and orienting new staff.
- Complete performance appraisals in a timely manner and address performance concerns.
- Conduct or participate in staff training and development.
- Monitor staff attendance and vacation scheduling to ensure program coverage.
- Provide supervision of staff as appropriate to licensure.
- Administrative Functions and Program Operations:
- Facilitate team meetings, case conferences, and other assigned meetings.
- Ensure program and staff compliance with regulations and standards of care.
- Utilize electronic databases to monitor billing and address fiscal or billing issues.
- Identify and develop systems to improve program operations.
- Serve as backup to the Director or other supervisors and assume responsibility for operations as needed.
- Demonstrate ability to implement change management, analyze and interpret data, and make data-driven decisions.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in social work or mental health counseling and New York State clinical licensure in social work (LCSW) or mental health counseling (LMHC-DP).
- 5+ years of experience working in clinics as a supervisor and/or certification in at least one evidence-based model.
- Solid clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practices.
- Prior experience in DBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, or EMDR preferred but not required.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Experience working with electronic medical records and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Work Environment
- Hybrid work setting combining in-person and remote work, with allocation determined in collaboration with the Senior Program Director based on program and client needs.
