SENIOR CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

About the role

LA Health Services seeks a Clinical Social Worker to provide social work services to patients and families presenting difficult medical and related psychosocial problems in hospitals, clinics, and community ambulatory health care settings.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and evaluates patients and family members to identify social, emotional, and economic factors which may interfere with acquiring maximum benefits from medical care.
• Develops and details bio-psychosocial assessments and formulates diagnoses and treatment plans based upon evaluation of the patient's past, present and future medical and socioeconomic functioning.
• Provides consultation services to multi-disciplinary team members by evaluating environmental and psychosocial factors related to the patient’s illness.
• Provides orientation and gives instructions to multi-disciplinary health staff to further their understanding of the social worker's role in the treatment process.
• Develops and implements psychosocial therapy modalities for patients applying a variety of therapeutic methods and techniques.
• Convenes with representatives of other departments and private agencies to resolve problems and to develop and maintain public understanding and sound working relationships.
• Participates in student affiliate programs for training professional social work students through case assignments and technical instructions.
• Develops and applies resources of public agencies as well as nonprofit and private organizations to meet the needs of the patients.
• Develops and conducts in-service training and staff development programs for social work staff.
• Attends in-service training programs, continuing professional education, seminars and workshops to stay ahead of new trends and techniques used in social work practice.
• Suggests changes to current social work services programs and procedures as needed.

Requirements

• A Master's Degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education followed by two years of Clinical Social Work experience*
• A valid and active license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Desirable Qualifications

Additional points will be awarded for experience in excess of the requirements.

Physical Class II - Light

This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
