About the role

The Senior Clinical Quality Improvement Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and improving clinical care and outcomes at one or more facilities at Alameda Health System. The position leads multiple large-scale, local or organization-wide, clinical quality improvement initiatives by combining clinical expertise with leadership skills to influence clinical processes, systems, and outcomes. This role examines existing models of care delivery to identify opportunities for systems-based improvements grounded in evidence, best practices, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements, and data analysis of high-risk, high-volume, and/or problem-prone processes. The position negotiates timelines and priorities for projects, coordinates action plans, and monitors/analyzes results to align with the organization’s strategic goals and imperatives.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks outcomes, disseminates data, and designs dashboards; communicates shared learnings; ensures sustainability of systems quality initiatives by participating in several high-priority quality committees across facilities
  • Actively coaches health system staff and leaders to continuously raise standards of excellence in patient safety, quality, and patient experience by advocating for best practices and evidence-based medicine in patient care
  • Partners with medical informatics to design safe, high-quality workflows
  • Performs, coordinates, and facilitates quality improvement, patient safety activities, and physician peer review initiatives for assigned areas to achieve organizational goals, working collaboratively with physicians and staff
  • Provides expertise in the interpretation, implementation, and maintenance of regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, Title 22)
  • Performs data analysis in collaboration with the Analytics team and engages clinicians in data interpretation to drive actions based on data-driven insights
  • Participates in the development of meaningful dashboards and other innovative data visualization tools to track process and outcome measures
  • Facilitates consensus development among clinicians and staff about standard best practices and, in collaboration with process owners, establishes strategies for minimizing variation around established best practices
  • Leads the identification of systems-based improvement opportunities and solutions to improve the quality and safety of patient care
  • Applies quality improvement tools and methodologies, such as PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control Analysis, to large-scale, organization-wide interventions
  • Stays abreast of inpatient and outpatient quality measures receiving external visibility and attention (e.g., CMS, Medical, HealthGrades, US News & World Report, HEDIS)
  • Provides leadership to assigned areas, including participation or facilitation of committees or workgroups
  • Partners and communicates effectively with clinical care teams to improve quality

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or healthcare-related field
  • Five years of experience working in a healthcare setting within a Quality or Clinical area
  • Experience managing projects independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
  • Preferred: Valid Registered Nurse license in the State of California

Pay

The pay range for this position is $64.84 – $108.07 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
