Senior Clinical Engineer (onsite Bothell, WA)

About the role

As a Sr. Clinical Engineer at Fujifilm Sonosite, you will leverage your ultrasound expertise and medical device industry experience to identify, document, design, and develop point-of-care ultrasound systems, imaging, and features. You will ensure Fujifilm Sonosite products are clinically diagnostic, safe, and meet user needs while participating in research and development activities. You will conduct research, gather data points, define clinical workflows, guide requirements and designs, and inform current and future product development. This role is part of a cross-functional development team dedicated to creating reliable, durable, and easy-to-use point-of-care ultrasound systems that provide meaningful solutions to customers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and provide clinical input to product development teams throughout the R&D process to ensure systems are clinically diagnostic, safe, and meet user needs.
• Serve as the clinical lead on projects and programs, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the product vision is implemented in design and requirements.
• Deliver clinical engineering project deliverables on time.
• Lead and participate in planning, execution, reporting, and presentation of regression testing.
• Perform train-the-trainer activities for education and product launches.
• Lead and participate in research and development activities to maintain and develop knowledge of technology, trends, clinical practices, and workflows related to POCUS.
• Advocate for customer user needs with an emphasis on reliability, durability, ease of use, and education.
• Refine and design state-of-the-art technologies in point-of-care ultrasound using your experience.
• Optimize and design ultrasound images to meet user needs and intended use in collaboration with Ultrasound Engineering.
• Research and capture clinical needs for users of POCUS systems.
• Provide clinical input to cross-functional teams to ensure requirements and research protocols align with clinical workflows and user needs.
• Oversee testing of ultrasound systems before customer delivery to ensure quality.
• Participate as the clinical quorum member in risk assessments, service, and quality reviews.
• Maintain and continually develop knowledge of product development processes and mentor other Clinical Engineering team members.
• Scan and review new features, systems, and transducers.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8–10 years of experience as a registered sonographer.
• Previous medical device industry experience required (3–7 years).
• Previous point-of-care ultrasound development preferred (3–7 years).
• Strong understanding of medical device product development processes.
• Previous experience with POCUS clinical applications preferred.
• RDMS, RVT, RDCS, and/or CCI (RCS) required; RDMS preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ultrasound physics and instrumentation required.
• Strong desire to expand and grow knowledge of ultrasound technology, workflows, and medical device development processes.

• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Pay

$110,000 – $135,000 depending on experience, plus variable bonus opportunity. Compensation will vary based on skills, experience, and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range.

Schedule

Hybrid role with in-office attendance required 60–100% of the time, as project schedules allow.
