About the role

A Senior Claims Representative investigates, evaluates, and settles auto claims to determine the extent of the Company's liability. This involves interviewing policyholders, claimants, and witnesses; inspecting vehicle damage; reviewing documents such as police reports; and working with attorneys. The role requires a strong understanding of insurance and company policies to ensure valid coverage and fair settlement negotiations.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate auto insurance claims by interviewing policyholders, claimants, and witnesses.
  • Manage more complex claims involving significant financial exposure, legal intricacies, and extended life cycles.
  • Oversee medical case management for catastrophic injuries and lifetime care needs.
  • Review policy terms to determine coverage and limitations.
  • Inspect property damage and gather documentation (photos, police reports, repair estimates).
  • Negotiate settlements with policyholders and/or third parties.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel or external investigators and attend trial when necessary.
  • Prepare detailed claim reports and recommendations for payment or denial.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company-specific regulations.
  • Provide customer support throughout the claim resolution process.
  • Assist supervisor/manager with training opportunities for all auto representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, company policies, and claims handling best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and organized claim file documentation.
  • Meet or exceed performance metrics such as cycle times, quality audits, and customer satisfaction scores.

Requirements

  • Active adjuster license(s) as required by state regulations, or the ability to obtain Texas license within a specified timeframe.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of previous experience in claims adjusting is required.
  • Knowledge of insurance policies, coverage rules, and claim processes.
  • Ability to evaluate damage estimates and repair costs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word) and the ability to learn and utilize various computer software programs; familiarity with claims management software (e.g., CCC).
  • Strong written documentation and reporting skills to maintain regulatory compliance and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Strong attention to detail for accuracy in data entry, document review, and ensuring policy correctness.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to show empathy and professionalism when working with all individuals.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize time effectively, and handle multiple claims simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Rules of the Road and traffic laws.

Physical Working Conditions

  • Ability to work at a desk using a computer for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
