Senior Claims Examiner, Professional Lines

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end handling of complex Professional Liability claims, including investigation, coverage analysis, reserving, litigation management, and resolution.
  • Evaluate and assign new claims based on complexity, jurisdiction, and expertise.
  • Maintain a proactive diary system to track key milestones and ensure adherence to service standards.
  • Ensure timely, strategic decision-making aligned with business and client goals.
  • Provide hands-on claims management for Fidelity Bond, D&O, E&O, and EPL matters.
  • Evaluate and direct litigation strategy in collaboration with defense counsel, including attendance at mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
  • Analyze coverage issues, liability exposures, and damages with precision and sound judgment.
  • Serve as a primary claims liaison for key accounts and specialty programs in partnership with Professional Liability leadership.
  • Lead and participate in claim review meetings; analyze trends and present insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, insureds, and risk managers to deliver high-quality, tailored service.
  • Partner closely with Underwriting, Risk Management, and Customer Service teams to ensure alignment with broader business objectives.
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement in claims handling processes, workflows, and best practices.
  • Ensure full compliance with Coaction Claim Handling Guidelines and Protocols, as well as all applicable regulatory requirements and NAIC guidance.
  • Maintain strong documentation and audit readiness standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, AIC, JD) preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience handling complex Professional Liability claims.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Fidelity Bond, E&O, EPL, and D&O claims (primary and excess experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of policy language interpretation, coverage analysis, and litigation management.
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex claims with significant financial exposure.
  • Experience working with defense counsel, experts, and third-party administrators.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance.

Pay

Salary range specific to this role: $103,000-$168,000 + discretionary incentive bonus + benefits depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, and qualifications. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
