Primary Job Responsibilities
- Aids adjusters in tracking the status of pending claims.
- Communicates with adjusters for updates and reports, and understands current status.
- Maintains documents in claims systems; closes files and prepares for storage.
- Composes and proofreads business memos, reports, and correspondence.
- Enters data in time and expense systems as needed.
- Maintains office files and accesses documents as necessary.
- Develops a basic understanding of property and construction fundamentals.
- Communicates with claimants, insureds, and experts as needed.
- Follows up on payment statuses and communicates with examiners.
- Prepares and distributes accurate reports and letters to insurance carriers.
- Assists with account management tasks, such as monitoring loss runs and following up on status inquiries.
- Prepares reimbursement reports and keeps records of claim amounts paid.
- Ensures confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent knowledge and critical thinking skills.
- 1-3 years of experience in an administrative role.
- At least two years of experience in commercial property adjusting or other insurance-related work.

- Basic understanding of insurance coverage and knowledge of commercial and residential construction industries.
- Ability to interpret policies and other technical information.
- Proficiency in a variety of office and industry software.

- College level mathematical and accounting skills preferred.

Working Conditions
- Primarily in an indoor office environment.
- Exposure to noise typical of an office or administrative setting.
- Occasional driving may be required.
- Visual acuity to prepare, read, and organize detailed hard copy and electronic documents.
- Ability to speak and hear the spoken word in normal face-to-face, web-based, and telephonic business communications.
- Willingness to accommodate occasional meetings and work activities that may be scheduled after normal business hours.
