About the role

The Southeast division of Ayres is seeking a senior civil engineer with a strong background in managing and executing water/wastewater utility projects for city/county/local governments. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit to grow the municipal engineering practice in Florida and contribute to the national practice.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue marketing opportunities to win projects from city, county, and municipal governments.
  • Lead project management, oversee design and production of plans and specifications, ensuring timely completion, profitability, and adherence to Ayres quality standards.
  • Manage and build respectful working relationships with project managers and other company leaders.
  • Support and mentor staff in professional development.
  • Engage actively in professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida.
  • 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater utility design and construction.
  • Ability to manage small to medium-sized projects independently.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with MicroStation experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Proven business development skills, focusing on identifying, pursuing, and winning projects.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Desired Skills and Experiences

  • Familiarity with clients in the Tampa Bay Area.
  • Experience with utility relocation in roadway construction.
  • Familiarity with FDOT standards.
