About the role

This on-site position supports government customer programs at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, performing duties related to Civil engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications.
  • Oversee A&E designs, monitor A&E’s progress, and assess work quality.
  • Review AF Requirements & Optimization (R&O) playbook for project initiations and development of maintenance requirements.
  • Perform inspections on completed project work and equipment installations, capturing Real Property data.
  • Interpret construction/engineering contract drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with initial design.
  • Define scope, specifications, studies, and budgeting for civil engineering projects; prepare initial government cost estimates for small projects.
  • Perform physical activities including climbing in and around equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
  • Consult and coordinate with electrical, structural, and mechanical engineers during the design phase to ensure proper mechanical layout.
  • Support and work with project design teams consisting of architects, engineers, and customer’s technical staff.
  • Provide technical support to programmers and cost estimators.
  • Conduct technical reviews of Military Construction (MILCON), Unspecified Minor Military Construction (UMMC), facility projects, and architect-engineer designers’ plans and specifications.
  • Perform root cause analysis on systems failing prematurely or systemically.
  • Review AF Form 332 work request submissions for validity of scope and practicality of in-house work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5+ years of experience in Civil Engineering programs.
  • Ability to identify common site architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection/detection system components and understand their function/operation.
  • Experience planning or performing facility maintenance, improvements, or repairs.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Qualifications

  • EIT/PE certification (preferred).
  • Air Force or DOD experience (preferred).
