Senior Chemistry Analyst

About the role

This role ensures the optimal function of laboratory analysis in the Regional Lab at the Quality Innovation Center (Thompson Station, TN). The Analytical Laboratories conduct routine physical and chemical analyses based on Mars Reference methods, aligned with the Global Laboratory Strategy, on raw materials and finished products with an emphasis on Quality and Food Safety. The associate will manage internal lab operational programs including lab safety, chemical hygiene, and site laboratory support, while ensuring compliance with Mars Global Laboratory Quality Standards and ISO 17025 accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver true, accurate results in a timely manner.
• Assist and provide backup to the Operations Manager in monitoring and planning support for the regional laboratory.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the lab and emergencies by adapting resources within the laboratory.
• Identify training needs for the unit and update the training matrix for associates.
• Collaborate with the Quality Coordinator to ensure all training records for the unit/analysis are completed.
• Follow KPIs and participate in progress plans.
• Provide technical advice for analysis.
• Write and create documents for laboratory quality management systems, including ISO 17025 and Mars Global Laboratory Quality Management System, and ensure compliance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of practical chemistry laboratory experience (a graduate degree can substitute for up to two years of required experience).
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field (e.g., Food Science, Biology, Pharmaceutical).
• Experience working in a production lab environment.
• Working knowledge of ISO 17025.
• Knowledge of food safety and nutrition is an asset.

Tuesday – Saturday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
