Senior Charge Nurse
About the role
NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a highly experienced Registered Nurse to lead the Arran Nursing Team. The role involves managing and leading a team to deliver high-quality, safe, effective, and person-centred care across the island’s acute hospital and community services.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead teams to deliver high-quality, safe, effective, and person-centred care
- Manage and lead the Arran Nursing teams covering the island’s acute hospital and community services
- Provide governance and professional support to other locality teams on the island
Requirements
The successful candidate must hold a registered nurse qualification with current NMC registration and be educated to degree level. They must also have at least 5 years post-registration experience, with at least 3 years at a senior level, including experience of managing and leading a team as Band 6 Senior RN/Charge Nurse.

- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Educated to degree level
- Comprehensive knowledge of acute and emergency nursing
Skills
Management experience, a range of leadership qualities, and professional values are essential. The postholder should be able to demonstrate these skills to develop and lead the teams to deliver high-quality care.
Benefits
Permanent Post 36 hours a week Mon-Fri. From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced to 36 hours without loss of earnings.
Pay
Salary details are based on a full-time contract and must be pro-rated for part-time positions. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis following interview and at the commencement of pre-employment checks.
