Senior Category Manager, Equipment, Mobility and Infrastructure, Global Procurement Organization (GPO)

About the role

We are seeking a leader with procurement experience to strategically source Volume Driven Equipment within the CAPEX - Equipment, Mobility and Infrastructure category. The person in this role will coordinate with several teams across Amazon and interact with suppliers to satisfy organizational requirements. You will partner with multiple teams to develop and execute robust category sourcing strategies, deliver savings, improve supply chain resilience, and enhance productivity across the category.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, creative and critical thinker with a strong motivation to learn. You must be an effective communicator, able to work independently and lead peers to generate high-quality work in a collaborative, ever-changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment.

As a CAPEX Equipment procurement leader at Amazon, you'll be at the forefront of driving value and innovation across business units. You'll balance short-term operational needs with long-term strategic goals, always focusing on how your decisions impact Amazon's ability to delight customers. Your work will have a tangible impact on Amazon's bottom line and play a crucial role in our mission to be Earth's most customer-centric company.

Responsibilities

• Establish multi-year category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams, negotiate with suppliers, and execute contracts to optimize Amazon’s competitive position.
• Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers, achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership that meets business goals, supported by a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks.
• Manage category suppliers to proactively identify, monitor, and optimize opportunities.
• Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed.
• Drive category suppliers in Supplier Relationship Management activities to mitigate risk, improve performance, and add value to Amazon.
• Identify, achieve, and report on savings and value targets for category sourcing activities.
• Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance, or related technical or quantitative field.
• 5+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience, including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational, and financial analysis.
• Experience using data and metrics to back up assumptions, evaluate outcomes, and make data-driven decisions.
• Experience working cross-functionally across several teams, both technical and non-technical.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles including switchgear, UPS, transformers, and circuit breakers.
• Master's degree or MBA in Business, Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, or related field.
• Direct experience in energy infrastructure, power systems, distributed energy, or onsite generation procurement (generators, microgrids, BESS, fuel cells).
• Experience negotiating complex multi-year CapEx or Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS/PPA) agreements for infrastructure or equipment.
• Experience with financial modeling (NPV, TCO, payback analysis) for energy infrastructure or capital equipment investments.
• Knowledge of power infrastructure supply chain dynamics (generators, BESS, fuel cells, microgrid controllers), including lead times, supply constraints, and OEM landscape.
• Experience managing strategic supplier relationships at scale (quarterly business reviews, performance KPIs, capacity planning, supplier consolidation strategies).
• Experience with utility market participation, demand response programs, energy arbitrage, or grid services revenue optimization.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (interconnection processes, permitting, emissions compliance) and their impact on power infrastructure deployment timelines.

Pay

• USA, TN, Nashville: $103,900.00 - $148,400.00 USD annually
• USA, TX, Houston: $115,400.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
• USA, VA, Arlington: $115,400.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
• USA, WA, Bellevue: $115,400.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
