Job Summary

The Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster investigates, evaluates, and resolves complex, high-exposure, and litigated automobile, general liability, and educator’s legal liability claims. The Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster provides advanced evaluation and litigation oversight of assigned claims and serves as a technical resource to less experienced Casualty Claims Adjusters.

Essential Job Functions

  • Independently facilitate the accurate and timely investigation, evaluation, resolution and disposition of complex, high-severity auto liability, general liability, and educator’s legal liability claims in accordance with applicable laws and internal policies and procedures
  • Lead litigation strategy in partnership with defense counsel
  • Determine and recommend appropriate claim resolutions and settlement strategies
  • Mentor Claims Adjusters and assist with training and development
  • Recognize claim trends and provide recommendations to claims leadership
  • Review legal documents and collaborate with defense counsel to determine how the documents impact the strategy and/or evaluation of a claim
  • Attend mediations, trials, and any other legal proceedings as needed
  • Maintain accurate reserves and claim file documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all Litigation Guidelines and Best Practices
  • Perform all actions relating to customers and companies in a manner that will avoid issues involving potential errors and omissions
  • Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of casualty or legal liability claims experience. 3 – 5 years previous litigated claim experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's preferred
  • Texas Adjuster’s License required
  • Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
    • Understand legal causes of action related to: Employment Issues; Special Education; Texas Constitution, Statutes and Regulations; United States Constitution and Statutes; State Law
    • Ability to manage high complexity claim caseloads
    • Ability to provide mentorship and serve as a technical resource
    • Advanced litigation management capabilities
    • Ability to successfully adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as maintain strict confidentiality
    • Ability to promote, and maintain a team environment, willing to find accommodating solutions for our customers, companies and the Agency
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both colleagues and managers, across all levels
