About the Role

Great American Insurance Group's Specialty Human Services Division (SHS) serves the Human and Social Services sector, protecting nonprofit and service organizations for over 40 years. As a Casualty Claim Professional, you will manage a large inventory of claims, working with agents to address coverage needs and loss exposures for over 16,000 organizations nationwide. Responsibilities

  • Manage a large inventory of claims to evaluate compensability and liability.
  • Plan and conduct claim investigations to confirm coverage, determine liability, compensability, and damages.
  • Determine and negotiate appropriate claim settlements and reserves within prescribed authority.
  • Attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as needed.
  • Convey moderately complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insureds, claimants, and external partners.
  • Authorize payments in accordance with assigned authority limit and ensure timely payments.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Political Science, Pre-law, Paralegal, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in property and casualty claims handling.
  • Completion of or progress toward a professional designation (e.g., Associate in Claims (AIC)) preferred.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures.
  • Familiarity with industry laws and regulations.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize caseloads for timely resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and lead negotiations.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Pay

Salary range: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00. Compensation varies by role, level, and location and is influenced by skills, experience, and business needs.
