Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic vascular examinations, utilizing equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data of the vascular system.
• Serve as a clinical expert in Vascular Sonography, performing high-skill-level ultrasound exams (e.g., mesenteric and renal arteries).
• Participate in the lab accreditation process and quality improvement/assurance initiatives.
• Consistently perform (at least 50% of the time) high-skill-level exams that correlate with other modalities (CT, angiography, surgery).
• Act as a subject matter expert and mentor for Vascular Sonographers and physicians.
• Provide education and training to sonographers, students, residents, fellows, and new employees.
• Assist with workflow, scheduling, and rescheduling of exams as necessary.
• Assist with equipment service needs (preventative maintenance and repair) when management is not present or as delegated.
• Present at the OSU annual conference to be recognized regionally and nationally as an expert.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of clinical indications and vascular procedures performed.
• Independently perform all diagnostic vascular examinations within the ARDMS scope of practice, including high-skill-level exams (mesenteric and renal arteries).
• Complete findings for each exam and confirm necessary information is present according to IAC standards and vascular lab protocols.
• Create a permanent recording of findings in VascuPro per vascular lab protocols for analysis and interpretation.
• Detect malfunctions and disease states of patient’s vasculature, optimizing ultrasound tools to obtain technically satisfactory images.
• Act within ARDMS scope of practice, utilizing independent, professional judgment to adapt procedure plans.
• Translate data from exams into written reports for physician interpretation and consult with physicians regarding preliminary findings.
• Contact covering physician if urgent findings are present and ensure timely scheduling of urgent/add-on exams.
• Provide education to patients and/or families pertaining to the exam.
• Ensure proper maintenance (cleaning) of equipment and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Evaluate and recommend new products and equipment when discovered through conferences or journals.
• Serve as backup Lead Sonographer when the Lead Sonographer is not available.
• Travel to satellite locations and clinic sites as necessary to perform job duties.
• Perform functions using job-related software and systems.
• Maintain attendance, promptness, professionalism, attention to detail, cooperativeness, and politeness.
• Handle other duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited (CAAHEP) ultrasound program (Associate or Bachelor) or equivalent education and experience.
• Current RVT and BCLS certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a vascular sonographer.
• Vascular ultrasound experience, including working knowledge of ultrasound equipment (imagers and physiological).
• Thorough knowledge of and ability to consistently perform high-skill-level exams (mesenteric and renal arteries) that correlate with other modalities (CT, angiography, surgery).
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and continuous learning through attending and participating in conferences.

Pay

USD $37.39 - USD $56.07 per hour.
