About the role

Your impact We’re looking for a Senior Carbon Management Consultant to join our fast-growing, committed, and enthusiastic team. Ideally, we’re seeking a talented professional who is based in the United States, and align to one of our Jacobs offices, with the option to work remotely. You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this role. You will collaborate within many facets of our business and interact with the full spectrum of staff from the entry level engineers/scientists to the senior business unit leadership. In this key role, you’ll support climate change, greenhouse gas, and carbon management projects around the globe, providing technical knowledge while helping to grow our business.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with some of the brightest minds in environmental consulting, acting as a senior technical consultant and strategist providing expertise and leadership in the form of project management, project technical consultant, regulatory subject matter expert, or senior QA/QC reviewer on climate change related projects.
  • Champion quality, health, and safety through all your work.
  • Present complex technical information and interpretations to clients and regulatory stakeholders in a readily understandable manner.
  • Help to grow our business by working directly with our sales and client account management teams to help innovate and differentiate our service offerings.
  • Lead the understanding of technical client needs and provide sustainable solutions that are practical and consider the cost benefit of carbon management and GHG strategies and options.
  • Define technical scopes and estimate levels of effort in proposals.

Requirements

  • 15 years' plus experience in carbon management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, basic/applied science (such as physics, chemistry, material science, earth sciences, etc.), or a similar discipline.
  • Experience speaking with client senior executives in corporate, industrial, or local government sectors, at conferences, and to internal company learning networks about greenhouse gas inventories and mitigation strategies, and the physical risks to infrastructure, facilities, and supply chains caused by climate change.
  • Knowledge of corporate, municipal, and project based GHG inventories and the guidance documents to support their development.
  • Experience in carbon markets including developing carbon offset projects, writing new carbon offset methodologies, assisting clients in taking carbon emissions to market, and assisting other clients in acquisition of offsets for their own needs.
  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse team of remote practitioners.
  • Experience scoping, pricing, and writing winning proposals for climate change and other sustainability projects and then managing projects after the award to achieve successful delivery.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, basic/applied science (such as physics, chemistry, material science, earth sciences, etc.), or a similar discipline.
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen.
  • Expert knowledge and past track record for delivery of climate risk and opportunity analysis per TCFD frameworks, and supporting our clients’ climate change disclosures via CDP and similar programs.
  • Strong knowledge of science-based target setting (via the SBTi program) for GHG reductions, including Scope 3 GHG emissions estimation and supply chain engagement strategies.
  • Background with environmental life cycle analyses, in particular carbon footprint of industrial products and infrastructure projects, and management of embodied carbon of concrete and steel and experience with environmental life cycle assessments of assets, infrastructure, and/or products.
  • Experience with delivery of projects involving the nexus of sustainable transportation, resilience, decarbonization, and social value.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $132,900.00 to $195,690.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
