About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Calibration Technician to join a growing laboratory team specializing in calibration, repair, and test & measurement services. This is a hands-on technical role offering the opportunity to contribute to laboratory growth, expand calibration capabilities, and progress into technical leadership or laboratory management as the organization continues to grow.
Responsibilities
- Perform calibration, verification, adjustment, and troubleshooting of a wide variety of test and measurement equipment.
- Independently handle complex calibration projects across multiple disciplines.
- Develop, improve, and maintain calibration procedures, work instructions, and technical methods.
- Support ISO/IEC 17025 quality system requirements and technical compliance.
- Prepare accurate calibration certificates, technical reports, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot complex measurement issues and provide technical support for customer-related inquiries.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians as needed.
- Evaluate customer calibration requirements and determine technical feasibility and scope.
- Perform onsite calibration services when required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including workflow optimization, process enhancements, and laboratory automation.
- Assist with audit preparation and accreditation maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide technical expertise and support.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Engineering, Physics, Metrology, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on calibration experience (8-15+ years preferred).
- Strong understanding of metrology principles, measurement uncertainty, traceability, and calibration best practices.
- Experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory environment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for onsite calibration work when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with repair of electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Experience using calibration automation software such as MET/CAL, SureCAL, LabVIEW, or similar platforms.
- RF calibration experience.
- High-voltage calibration or testing experience.
- Leadership or mentoring experience in a calibration laboratory.
