Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead a crew in the installation of premise network cabling systems.
  • Install, label, and test premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and associated hardware.
  • Update cable run sheets and other documentation as required.
  • Read and interpret system installation drawings and design packages.
  • Promote a safe work environment and implement safe work practices.
  • Provide guidance and perform quality assurance checks for subordinate cabling personnel.
  • Terminate and test fiber-optic and copper cabling systems, as well as various types of cable tray, PDS, and Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) conduit up to 4 inches.
  • Able to fusion splice fiber optic cable.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility to obtain a government security clearance.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in the installation of copper and fiber-optic cable plants.
  • Proficient in the installation and testing of premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and associated hardware.
  • Proficient in the techniques for fusion splicing, termination, and outside plant installation.
  • Proficient in the proper handling and installation of LC, MTRJ, SC, RJ45 connector terminations, and testing of fiber-optic and copper cabling systems.
  • Proficient in the installation of various types of cable tray, PDS, and Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) conduit up to 4 inches.
  • Experience with access points, repeaters, data center, computer lab, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP), direct access storage drive, mainframe, open systems and switches/routers.
  • Capable of leading and instructing a team of cabling technicians, and properly documenting any red-line changes to drawing packages.
  • Effective communicator in coordinating installation work with subordinates and with office personnel.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
