Job Description

The Senior Buyer is responsible for procuring equipment, materials, and services for assigned areas requiring specialized product knowledge and interpretation of technical requests. This individual will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure materials and services are obtained at the most competitive cost while meeting quality, delivery, and business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Procure critical materials, components, equipment, and services by identifying and evaluating qualified suppliers.
  • Review, interpret, and verify purchase order requests for accuracy, quantity, anticipated costs, and business application.
  • Research supplier sources, solicit bids, and compare proposals based on quality, cost, delivery timelines, and warranty/guarantee policies.
  • Negotiate and commit company funds with vendors while ensuring competitive pricing.
  • Expedite orders, shipments, and deliveries while providing updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain automated purchasing inventory files and procurement records.
  • Authorize vendor payments and manage purchasing adjustments as required.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) teams to support supplier audits.
  • Collaborate with Global Procurement Category and Process teams on projects.
  • Lead local and national supplier tenders, including:
    • Market research
    • Supplier evaluation
    • Award selection
    • Implementation
    • Ongoing supplier relationship management
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related discipline preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant buying/procurement experience.
  • Experience with SAP and Jaggaer required/preferred.
  • Strong experience with supplier management, sourcing, purchasing processes, and vendor negotiations.
  • Ability to evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery, and service requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple procurement projects and priorities.
  • Purchasing certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferred.
