Senior Buyer

Location: Melville, NY or Topefield, MA (100% onsite)

Pay

$90,000‑$130,000 per year, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Check and examine purchase requisitions for proper descriptions of items, part numbers, specifications, etc., and place orders in accordance with established policies.
• Establish sources of supply that ensure reasonable pricing, dependable shipment, and reliable quality.
• Expedite, follow up, and administer open purchase orders.
• Maintain appropriate files on all orders in process.
• Interview salespeople and vendors and refer descriptive literature to the appropriate department.
• Maintain liaison between all company departments and vendors to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Develop new sources of supply for both new and routine materials.
• Coordinate and combine orders of different origins to take advantage of quantity pricing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 9 years relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience purchasing electronic and electromechanical parts, preferably in the RF commercial or military industry.
• Excellent time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience writing technical specifications and other technical documents.
• Proficiency with Costpoint, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
