It makes the world’s most advanced software-based 5G platform, designed, coded, and manufactured in Syracuse, NY at the only U.S.-owned 5G factory in the country. The Senior Buyer will support JMA in its strategic and tactical goals within the supply chain, driving the business toward its strategic agenda and tactical execution.
Responsibilities
- Review MRP data for requirements
- Work cross-functionally on First Article Inspections (FAIs)
- Assist in managing supplier scorecards and lead business reviews
- Improve supplier relationships and performance through cross-functional collaboration
- Manage project load with engineering and other cross-functional teams
- Create requisitions and convert them into purchase orders
- Confirm dates with vendors and update SAP information based on confirmations or changes
- Manage vendor relationships and review exception messages
- Proactively report on and react to material shortages
- Negotiate costs, terms, and conditions with suppliers
- Manage lead times in SAP and maintain approved vendor lists
- Identify and qualify suppliers
- Perform inventory analytics to improve turns and optimize stocking quantities
- Conduct safety stock reviews
- Reduce shipping spending by optimizing shipments from vendors
- Work cross-functionally with planning, quality, sourcing, and manufacturing teams
- Communicate material issues and challenges
- Identify key secondary source requirements for critical components and execute with sourcing
- Manage material master data, including lead times and pricing updates
- Assist in managing cutovers to new material or revisions
- Review engineering drawings
- Conduct business reviews and provide forecast updates to the vendor base
- Identify redundancies and risks in the supply chain
- Manage expedites and associated costs
- Advise on shortages and mitigation strategies
Requirements
- BS degree preferred (Technical or Supply Chain focus)
- 5+ years of Supply Chain experience, including buying, for a manufacturing organization in an ERP/MRP environment
- Experience in both the strategic and tactical side of procurement
- Knowledge in cost analytics and contracts (review, negotiation, terms & conditions)
- Exceptional computer skills; SAP experience desired
- High degree of initiative and attention to detail in a diverse and highly multi-tasked environment
- Excellent follow-up skills
- Strong interpersonal skills

Pay
The US national annual base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $100,000. Actual base salary will be based on factors including scope and complexity of the role, relevant experience, skills, knowledge, peer and market data, and geographic location.
