Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing efforts for assigned commodities and components from vendor identification through evaluation, selection, and implementation.
- Drive cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives through supplier negotiations, competitive quoting, value analysis, and process improvements.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers to support business growth, capacity requirements, and supply continuity.
- Partner with suppliers to improve quality, delivery, and service performance, including root cause analysis and corrective actions when required.
- Support new product development projects and engineering changes by ensuring supplier readiness, material availability, and project timeline adherence.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Production Control, and Production to support cost, quality, and manufacturability objectives.
- Assist in resolving supply disruptions, material shortages, and supplier escalations to ensure continuity of supply.
- Track and report key performance metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and procurement project status.
- Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, and sourcing documentation within company systems.
- Maintain clear and proactive communication with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, and sitting for extended periods to perform basic office functions.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Keyboarding skills that reduce the risk of carpal tunnel and other office-related injuries.
- Willingness to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots) as needed.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally via ground, air, and rail as necessary (up to 10%).
Environmental Conditions
- Indoor office environment with open cubicle arrangement.
- Occasional visits to shop or vendor locations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of direct Purchasing and/or Supply Chain experience with both domestic and overseas procurement.
- Practical problem-solving approach to supply issues; business-minded, results-oriented, and a team player.
- Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve procurement problems.
- Exceptional vendor relations management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License and abide by Corporate Fleet Policy.
- Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment testing required by the company.
