Senior Buyer

Location: Clear Lake, TX

Salary: $90,000 plus insurance, pension, and benefits.

About the role

This senior Buyer III position supports a leading U.S. chemical operator, focusing on strategic procurement, supplier relationships, and high‑value CAPEX projects in a safety‑driven industrial environment. The role works closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and QHSE to develop sourcing strategies, manage complex RFQs/RFPs, negotiate commercial terms, and oversee contract lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Lead CAPEX and strategic procurement activities for equipment, materials, services, and operational requirements.
• Develop sourcing strategies, manage complex RFQs/RFPs, and drive competitive supplier selection.
• Conduct commercial negotiations covering pricing, general Terms & Conditions, service agreements, and long‑term contracts.
• Manage contract drafting, redlining, renewals, benchmarking, KPIs, and supplier performance.
• Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and QHSE to align procurement and contract strategies with cost, quality, safety, and delivery goals.
• Oversee procurement operations, supplier and contractor compliance, PO escalations, and supply‑chain issues.
• Act as a senior procurement resource and Coupa P2P Super User with SAP exposure.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Buyer, with demonstrated Level 2 Buyer capability, preferably in maintenance, engineering, or industrial operations.
• Experience supporting CAPEX procurement.
• Strong strategic sourcing and negotiation experience, including complex RFQs/RFPs and supplier selection.
• Proficiency in contract management and procurement systems; Coupa P2P required, SAP preferred.
• Knowledge of procurement processes, cost estimation, taxes, and contract fundamentals.
• Excellent stakeholder and supplier‑management skills, able to operate independently across multiple functions.
• CPM/ISM certification and warehouse/inventory experience are advantageous.
