Senior Business Intelligence Engineer – Stars Analytics
About the role
The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer develops tools, technologies and/or applications used to collect, integrate, analyze, and present Stars related data in order to create insightful and actionable business information. The role operates within the Stars Analytics organization (SA) which is developing a new model of delivery through principles of Large-Scale Scrum, dedicated Partnership Leaders, and collective Product Ownership.
Responsibilities
- Build and implement Power BI reports as well as semantic models in a star schema fashion
- Author SQL queries to support Power BI modeling as well as audit results in Power BI to ensure accuracy
- Create visualizations and reports sometimes based on UX Designer mockups, and others based verbal descriptions provided
- Partner with stakeholders to understand various problems and develop solutions to resolve them
- Evaluate and improve existing BI dashboards and solutions where appropriate
- Collaborate with teammates to apply best practices related to data and reporting with a focus on cloud platforms, but not excluding on-premises architecture
- Develop and document solutions related to deployed
- Ensure solutions provide the highest quality of data, verified during testing and signed off by stakeholders prior to deployment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 or more years of technical experience in data analysis, report design and development
- In-depth experience with Power BI
- High level skills in SQL authoring and analysis
- Experience with advanced functions in Excel
- Experience working with large complex data sets
- Experience analyzing data to solve a wide variety of business problems and creating data visualizations that drive strategic direction
- Comfortable presenting to senior and executive leadership
- Demonstrated ability to articulate ideas effectively in both written and oral forms
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Power BI Certification
- Other data related industry leading certification(s)
- Advanced Degree in quantitative disciplines, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data
- Advanced in SQL
- Familiar with JSON data navigation and transformation
- Experience working with data in/on the Databricks platform
- Expertise in data mining, forecasting, simulation, and/or predictive modeling
- Experience creating analytics solutions for various healthcare sectors

- Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
- Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
- Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
- To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
- In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary.
- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
- Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

- Pay Range $89,000 - $121,400 per year
- This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
