Senior Business Analyst, Operations Analytics - Remote
About the role
Responsible for collecting, summarizing data and providing analysis that will assist Pharmacy & Retail Operations management in both long- and short-range strategic planning, and the development and implementation of programs. Maintains a thorough understanding of business processes pertaining to all aspects of Pharmacy & Retail Operations. Provides complex analysis to develop cost benefits of proposed programs through data collection and interpretation. Works on projects including process improvement, strategy development, industry trends, competitive analysis, and company positioning. Manages complex ad-hoc projects and analyses as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of business processes and practices pertaining to all aspects of Pharmacy & Retail Operations within the Retail Hub.
- Provides complex analysis of corresponding data to build business cases for system and operational procedure changes, enhancements, development of functional specifications, or interface opportunities with costs and/or return on investment summarized.
- Serves as operational point of contact for various projects to drive project execution. Communicates relevant project information to stakeholders, both corporately and in the field.
- Collects, analyzes, makes specific recommendations, and presents information pertaining to proposed programs to meet the business and strategic goals of Pharmacy & Retail Operations and the Company.
- Plans, designs, and deploys appropriate reports and tools.
- Collaborates across Pharmacy & Retail Operations, IT, legal and regulatory, process improvement teams, and others to develop operational solutions.
- Coaches, mentors, guides, and provides oversight to less senior Business Analysts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 1 year of experience with analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions; OR High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of such experience.
- At least 1 year of experience querying databases (e.g., SQL, Golden, Business Objects, EDW, SAS, and/or SQL Server).
- Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve them.
- Experience communicating the impact of business analysis results to business leaders.
- Intermediate to Advanced level skill in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Software Engineering, or another engineering discipline (Industrial Engineering strongly preferred).
- Experience applying engineering, Lean, Six Sigma, process improvement, or structured problem-solving methods to operational workflows, productivity, quality, turnaround time, cost, service level, or capacity-related metrics.
- Working knowledge of SQL, including ability to write or modify queries, join tables, investigate data anomalies, validate business logic, and support repeatable reporting processes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, or improve Power BI dashboards and reports using defined business logic, validated data sources, and operational metric definitions.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and root cause analysis skills, including ability to distinguish between true operational performance issues and data quality, logic, or source-system issues.
- Experience defining, calculating, validating, and reporting operational metrics such as turnaround time, cycle time, volume, productivity, quality, backlog, service level, or exception rates.
- Ability to partner with operations and cross-functional teams to understand existing reports, document metric definitions, evaluate data sources, and transition reporting ownership into the business team.
- Experience translating process knowledge into data validation logic, identifying discrepancies, and recommending corrective actions.
- Experience presenting insights, opportunities, risks, and recommended actions to operational leaders in a clear and concise manner.
- Pharmacy, healthcare operations, retail operations, fulfillment, logistics, supply chain, or regulated operations experience preferred.
