Hourly Rate: $60.00 – $68.00

About the Role

The Business Analyst will support projects, applications, and technologies within Protection New Business and Underwriting, with a focus on platform modernization. This role will translate business needs into detailed requirements for processes and technology that support customer and employee experiences. The successful candidate will work independently on highly visible and complex products and projects within a dynamic, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Business Analyst for projects, applications, and technologies supporting Protection New Business and Underwriting.
  • Support the overall Underwriting organization with a focus on platform modernization.
  • Gather, synthesize, and document business requirements, rules configurations, and UAT testing requirements.
  • Document business requirements with detailed technical specifications.
  • Understand process flows and ensure interconnectivity of systems and applications.
  • Act as a liaison between Underwriting and other teams and advocate for necessary changes.
  • Translate customer and employee needs into documented, actionable solutions with clear measurement mechanisms supporting business outcomes.
  • Provide appropriate documentation for the Product team to prioritize features and enhancements against a prioritization framework.
  • Support Business Owners, Product Managers, and peers in aligning requirements to roadmaps.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes by maintaining knowledge of available and upcoming features delivered by external vendors.
  • Update procedures and processes as changes are implemented.
  • Ensure development outputs meet business expectations through strong cross-functional relationships with technical and architecture teams.
  • Apply change management principles when establishing launch readiness for system and process updates.
  • Work independently and with management on highly visible, divisional, and cross-divisional complex products and projects.
  • Serve as a key resource for documenting unique or complex business problems.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond the scope of assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting projects and driving execution of complex technical work.
  • Business Analyst experience supporting underwriting systems.
  • Experience with insurance underwriting platforms.
  • Understanding of Waterfall and Agile processes and documentation.
  • Strong business and technical requirements documentation skills.
  • Ability to drill down from the big picture to detailed processes.
  • Strong strategic thinking and collaboration skills across diverse teams and organizations.
  • Strong business analysis and process analysis skills.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting systems.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, matrixed organization.
  • Ability to bring together perspectives across teams and capture end-to-end requirements.
  • Ability to support business sign-off and implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Life underwriting knowledge.
  • Experience solving complex problems and improving team processes.
  • Exposure to customer experience and user experience practices.
  • Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams to design, configure, test, and deploy solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing business priorities.
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence.

  • Experience with configuration, testing, and deployment.
