What You'll Do
- Lead the requirements gathering process for complex E&S insurance initiatives—facilitating workshops, interviews, and process mapping sessions with stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with IT architects and developers to design and deliver end-to-end solutions, from concept through deployment.
- Ensure solutions align with regulatory requirements, underwriting guidelines, and operational best practices in the E&S market.
- Conduct gap analyses and recommend process improvements that leverage technology for maximum impact.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on E&S insurance products, rating, policy issuance, and claims workflows.
- Support testing efforts by developing test cases, validating results, and ensuring solutions meet business expectations.
- Contribute to transformation projects—helping migrate core systems from legacy platforms to modern, cloud-based architectures.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the continuous improvement of our business analysis framework.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of business analysis experience, with at least 7 years in the Excess & Surplus insurance domain.
- Proven track record of delivering end-to-end IT solutions in a complex, regulated environment.
- Deep knowledge of E&S insurance processes, including underwriting, policy administration, and claims (claims domain experience is a plus).
- Strong skills in requirements elicitation, process modeling, and documentation (e.g., BPMN, UML).
- Experience with Waterfall, Agile, and Water-Scrum-Fall delivery methods, and the ability to adapt to hybrid approaches.
- Hands-on experience with transformation projects—especially migrating from legacy systems to cloud-based solutions.
- Familiarity with policy administration systems, rating engines, and integration with third-party data providers.
- Exceptional communication skills—able to translate technical concepts into business language and vice versa.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence without direct authority.
Education
- Minimum of a 4-year degree from an accredited institution (Business, Information Systems, or related field preferred).
