Senior Build Engineer, Automated Build & Release

This role is crucial for our engineering team, focusing on building robust infrastructure for software development.
Responsibilities
- Own and scale automated build and release infrastructure for software development across 1X.
- Design and implement highly reliable CI/CD systems to ensure software quality and efficiency.
- Optimize build performance and reduce engineering downtime and release risk.
- Develop automated testing, artifact management, versioning, and release validation systems.
- Partner with all software teams to standardize development workflows and improve engineering productivity.
- Establish scalable developer infrastructure, release governance, and CI/CD best practices.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional experience (Senior) or 10+ years (Staff) in Build Engineering, Release Engineering, Developer Infrastructure, DevOps, or Platform Engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong programming experience in Python, Go, Bash, or similar scripting and automation languages.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD systems using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Buildkite, Bazel, Buck2, CMake, or similar build systems.
- Experience supporting Linux-based development environments and distributed software engineering teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting robotics, embedded systems, autonomous vehicles, games, or other large-scale software platforms.
- Familiarity with cross-platform build systems, embedded firmware builds, or multi-language monorepos.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience managing artifact repositories, package management, release orchestration, and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience optimizing build performance, distributed compilation, caching strategies, or large-scale developer tooling.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation Range: $190,000 – $230,000 + Equity
