About the role

The Senior BSA/AML Investigator is responsible for performing a wide variety of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Global Sanctions responsibilities, including investigating assigned cases and cases identified through independent reviews of transaction and monitoring reports.

Responsibilities

  • Complete case investigations derived from MIS reports, employee referrals, media referrals, criminal subpoenas, etc., and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when appropriate (60%).
  • Review and analyze MIS reports generated from BAM+ to detect unusual activity and create BSA case investigations when appropriate (10%).
  • Maintain various databases and logs including Enhanced Due Diligence, Unusual Activity Referral database, BSA Case Log, and BAM+ (15%).
  • Review and verify OFAC compliance reports (5%).
  • Work closely with various departments to assist them in complying with BSA/OFAC, CIP and Patriot Act requirements (5%).
  • Perform other duties as assigned (5%).

Requirements

  • Three years of prior experience investigating, reporting and decisioning various types of BSA, AML and OFAC alerts at a financial institution or equivalent.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Economic/Financial Crime Management, Criminal Justice, or equivalent experience or certifications.
  • Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act requirements.

Skills and Abilities

  • Team player with strong organizational, communication, analytical and PC skills, especially Excel.
  • Ability to research and analyze data and recognize/evaluate patterns of customer activity.
  • Skilled investigator with understanding of fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing risks in a banking environment.
  • Ability to professionally present information (orally and in writing) and respond to questions from Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, and Officers of the Court.
  • Ability to work multiple inquiries/investigations simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

  • Communicate effectively with internal and/or external customers.
  • Stationary 75% of the time or greater.
  • Move objects up to a maximum of 10 lbs.
