Senior Broadband Consultant
About the role
This is a remote position with preferences for candidates in the Huntsville, AL area. We are seeking an experienced Senior Broadband Consultant to lead strategic, technical, and financial advisory engagements supporting broadband network development and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted partner to our clients—utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, and private providers—acting as their primary point of contact throughout engagements.
- Help shape broadband strategies by leading the development of master plans, market assessments, and business cases, while offering thoughtful, executive-level guidance to senior stakeholders.
- Take the lead on delivering consulting engagements from start to finish, ensuring everything runs smoothly from kickoff through final deliverables.
- Guide network strategy and technical direction, overseeing the evaluation and planning of fiber, wireless, and hybrid broadband solutions, assessing existing infrastructure, and helping define smart, scalable deployment approaches.
- Drive key decisions around network architecture, capacity, and performance.
- Oversee the development of robust financial models covering ROI, business cases, and operating scenarios, while helping clients navigate funding opportunities.
- Lead stakeholder and community engagement, leading workshops, executive briefings, and public meetings.
- Collaborate with local governments, regulatory agencies, and funding entities, while managing relationships with vendors and partners across the broadband ecosystem.
- Provide oversight on execution, keeping an eye on schedules, budgets, and risks, while establishing governance frameworks, reporting structures, and performance metrics.
- Guide clients as they transition from planning into engineering, construction, and implementation.
- Contribute to the growth of the business by supporting proposals, defining scopes, and shaping pricing strategies.
- Uncover new opportunities within existing and prospective accounts, and lend your voice to thought leadership efforts through presentations, whitepapers, and industry forums.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8–15+ years of experience in broadband, telecommunications, or infrastructure consulting
- Demonstrated experience leading complex broadband or telecommunications projects
- Strong background in fiber, wireless, and/or hybrid network architectures
- Prominent ability to manage client relationships and lead project teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting public-sector broadband initiatives (states, municipalities, co-ops)
- Direct experience with broadband funding programs (e.g., BEAD, NTIA, USDA ReConnect)
- Experience with GIS tools, network design platforms, or engineering coordination
- PMP or similar project management certification
Benefits & Salary
This position pays between $120,000 and $150,000 annually and is an exempt position. Benefits offered include company sponsored medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually. Full time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours. May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.
