Senior Brand Designer

Vercel · San Francisco, CA · 2 wk ago
Art & Creative$156k–$234k/yrFull-time

Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company. We free people and agents to ship what’s next. For over a decade, we’ve shaped how the web is built through products like Next.js, v0, and AI SDK. Now, we’re building the platform for the next generation of software—trusted by companies like OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide.

About the role

Help shape a brand that moves as fast as the platform it represents. As a Brand Designer on Vercel's Core team, you'll evolve the foundational visual language of a brand trusted by the most ambitious builders in the world. You'll create systems, experiences, and defining brand moments that are instantly recognizable, creatively ambitious, and built to scale.

This role spans brand systems, digital experiences, product launches, social, motion, print, events, environments, and the occasional piece of swag. You’ll design, prototype, and use AI-assisted code to bring brand ideas to life—crafting clarity from complexity while pushing work to be sharp and ship-ready.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design across key brand moments—product launches, campaigns, events, internal initiatives, and undefined opportunities
  • Evolve Vercel’s visual identity: typography, color, composition, iconography, imagery, motion, and product-brand expression
  • Design across mediums (web, motion, 3D, social, print, swag, environments) and choose formats that best serve the story
  • Move fluidly between Figma and code (HTML/CSS/JS, AI-assisted tools like v0, Cursor, Claude Code) to prototype independently
  • Build and evolve a brand system that scales without going stale, translating it into tools, templates, and production-ready assets
  • Work hands-on from concept through final production, including preparing files, specs, and assets for implementation
  • Determine when motion, 3D, code, or emerging tech strengthens an idea—and when simplicity serves better
  • Establish a shared visual language across product, marketing, and internal comms—flexible enough for everyday use and major moments
  • Partner with design engineers to polish prototypes into high-quality digital experiences
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, product design, and leadership to align on strategy and ship cohesive work
  • Direct and collaborate with external specialists (studios, freelancers, photographers, illustrators, printers, fabricators) when needed
  • Present and defend creative decisions, connecting visual choices to brand, product, audience, and business goals

Requirements

  • 5+ years in brand, marketing, or visual design—ideally at a SaaS, developer tools, or fast-growing tech company
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional taste, systems thinking, and execution across mediums—showing process, collaboration, and how work gets into production
  • Exceptional typography and layout skills with obsessive attention to spacing, hierarchy, rhythm, proportion, and alignment
  • Deep understanding of visual storytelling, brand systems, composition, motion, and digital experiences
  • Experience using AI throughout your process—visual exploration, prototyping, production, automation, and writing front-end code
  • Comfort with AI-assisted coding tools (v0, Cursor, Claude Code) to build working prototypes
  • Practical understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript—enough to refine AI-generated code to a high standard
  • Technical curiosity and ability to ship functional prototypes (not required to be a full-time engineer)
  • Ability to think beyond static files and bring ideas to life as interactive experiences
  • Strong production knowledge across digital and physical formats (responsive design, asset delivery, print prep, environmental graphics)
  • Comfort moving between conceptual thinking, detailed execution, prototyping, and production
  • Understanding of how brand lives inside products and digital experiences, not just marketing campaigns

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity
  • Inclusive healthcare package
  • Mentorship and funding for professional development and networking events
  • Flexible time off
  • Work-from-home budget and equipment provided

Pay

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $156,000–$234,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location. Total compensation may include benefits, equity, and eligibility for a company bonus or variable pay program.
