About the Role

Join a team working at the ground floor of a 0-to-1 build to design, build, and operate the blockchain infrastructure that powers Barclays’ next-generation Digital Assets Platform. This role focuses on deploying and managing institutional-grade blockchain networks and connectivity services that support crypto assets such as tokenized deposits, stablecoins, tokenized securities, and other regulated digital asset use cases.

You will work across permissioned and open blockchain ecosystems, delivering resilient, secure, and scalable infrastructure while partnering closely with engineering, architecture, security, and platform teams to integrate blockchain capabilities into Barclays’ broader technology landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and operate connectors, relayers, bridges, or interoperability services between permissioned and open blockchain networks, understanding transaction finality, settlement models, and network-specific behaviors.
  • Design and operate highly available blockchain infrastructure, including node monitoring, chain-data storage optimization, performance tuning, observability, disaster recovery, and operational resilience controls.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfill business requirements, ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use.
  • Monitor IT infrastructure and system performance to identify, address, and resolve potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages, using data to drive down mean time to resolution.
  • Develop and implement automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Implement secure configurations and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT infrastructure requirements and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, contributing to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

Requirements

  • Experience building multi-chain abstraction layers, blockchain adaptors, wallet integrations, and platform services that simplify interaction across multiple distributed ledger technologies.
  • Knowledge of token standards, on-chain governance mechanisms, protocol upgrades, and blockchain network operations.
  • Understanding of digital asset workflows, including tokenized deposits, stablecoins, custody, settlement, securities tokenization, and institutional blockchain-based financial services.
