About the role

We’re seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Applications Scientist to join a commercial team supporting customers across genomics and NGS. This is a customer-facing role combining bioinformatics, NGS applications, technical consulting, and sales support. You’ll partner with customers to understand their technical needs, provide bioinformatics and NGS expertise, support custom panel design, troubleshoot data analysis workflows, and collaborate closely with Sales, Product, R&D, and other internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert for customers and Sales teams across NGS and bioinformatics applications.
  • Support pre- and post-sales activities, including customer meetings, presentations, technical discussions, and troubleshooting.
  • Support custom NGS panel design and customer-specific applications.
  • Provide bioinformatics support for NGS data analysis, proof-of-concept studies, and workflow troubleshooting.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical solutions and communicate customer feedback internally.
  • Possess strong knowledge of NGS applications and bioinformatics, including WES, RNA-seq, methylation, or related workflows.
  • Experience with tools such as BWA, GATK, IGV, UCSC, SAMtools, Picard, and bedtools.
  • Strong Linux/command-line skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.

Requirements

  • PhD + 2 years, or BS/MS + 7 years, of relevant biotech/commercial genomics experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NGS applications and bioinformatics, including WES, RNA-seq, methylation, or related workflows.
  • Experience with tools such as BWA, GATK, IGV, UCSC, SAMtools, Picard, and bedtools.
  • Strong Linux/command-line skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in medical genetics, oncology, or immunology is a plus.
  • 4+ years in a customer-facing scientific or technical role.
  • Molecular biology and NGS library preparation experience.
  • Strong understanding of molecular and medical genetics.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of NGS applications and bioinformatics, including WES, RNA-seq, methylation, or related workflows.
  • Experience with tools such as BWA, GATK, IGV, UCSC, SAMtools, Picard, and bedtools.
  • Strong Linux/command-line skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
