Key Responsibilities
- Independently develop, formulate, and optimize finished beverage products using a variety of flavor delivery systems.
- Reverse engineer finished products based on ingredient statements, nutrition facts panels, and product analysis.
- Apply a thorough understanding of beverage processing, batching, and manufacturing principles.
- Utilize broad flavor knowledge to support product development and application activities.
- Stay informed on emerging ingredients, flavor trends, market developments, and evolving industry standards.
- Provide technical expertise during customer meetings, demonstrations, and presentations alongside commercial teams.
- Lead cross-functional project teams and support strategic customer initiatives through the creation of product demonstrations and presentations.
- Provide hands-on technical support during customer plant trials, scale-ups, and production runs.
- Participate in routine sensory evaluations and taste panels.
- Evaluate project requests, identify technical requirements, and establish appropriate development strategies.
- Independently manage projects, including planning, execution, analysis, and communication of results.
- Solve complex technical challenges by gathering and analyzing information from both internal and external sources.
- Effectively communicate project updates, technical findings, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor and support the development of junior team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related scientific discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in beverage applications or beverage product development.
- Strong experience with beverage formulation, product development, and commercialization.
- Experience with carbonated soft drinks, juices, or operation of MicroThermics equipment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy, organization, and strong laboratory practices.
- Proven ability to take beverage products from concept through commercialization.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and relevant databases.
- Working knowledge of beverage recipes, ingredient functionality, mixing and blending techniques, and formulation execution.
- Comfortable interacting directly with customers and supporting business development efforts alongside commercial teams.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
