About the role
The Senior Benefits Specialist administers health and welfare plans, manages the Healthy Hillman program, provides industry-related analysis, leads benefit-related projects, and oversees vendor relationships.
Responsibilities
- Serves as plan administrator for benefit programs; reviews and updates processes to ensure organizational functionality and communicates changes to internal stakeholders.
- Manages the Healthy Hillman program, including annual timeline, biometric methods, and vendor management/selection.
- Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for benefit and retirement plans (e.g., 5500 filings, ACA, audits).
- Coordinates benefit awareness efforts through partnerships with Learning & Development, HR Business Partners, and managers.
- Participates in benefits strategy development, researches trends, and identifies opportunities to expand or improve benefits offerings.
- Supports mergers, acquisitions, and sales through data collection, site visits, plan reviews, and related duties.
- Participates in Annual Open Enrollment, Wellness programs, and general plan communications, including in-person site visits, virtual meetings, and messaging development.
Qualifications
- Over four years of relevant human resources generalist experience, with at least two years in benefits program administration.
- Experience with cost and trend analysis preferred.
- Large enterprise system experience preferred (e.g., Dayforce, SAP, Oracle, Workday).
- Presentation development and public speaking experience preferred.
Skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Strong project management skills, including coordinating multiple projects and programs.
- Experience working with internal and external teams.
- Proficiency in compiling concise visual reports (charts, graphs, tables).
- Excellent administrative, multitasking, analytical, and organizational skills.
